Hi all,

Currently looking to get a MM to perform as a central media server for the house.

Primary uses will be:

- Running EyeTV (controlled by iOS apps) to record TV shows
- iTunes server (movies / tv shows / music streamed to a couple of airport express adapters and 2 apple TVs)
- Torrent download box

..might offload media conversion to it too, but suspect it might be too much for it if I go low spec.

I currently have a mega cheap G4 1.25GHz model on the way to play with, I'm already aware that EyeTV is Intel only but would it be OK to act as the iTunes server? It's just streaming stuff after all isn't it? If not, what min spec would people recommend?

Cheers!

G4 should be sufficient as a media server. If you're going to stream wirelessly, then buy a USB wireless N stick as G4 supports only G which is much slower.

Thanks ... it'll be wired to a gigabit network, am aware early Minis were only 100Mb though right?
