This is a bit long winded so I'm sorry but have to explain as I am simply looking for advice from someone who might use photo-editing software. I picked up a mid 2012 I mac without an operating system and upgraded it to Sierra. Now here is where the issue starts. I currently use Adobe CS 4 (Photoshop and in-design on my windows based PC). Should I install boot camp and then install windows 7 and then reinstall CS 4 or keep it Mac only. I hear there is a program from Affinity photo which is reasonably close to mac. My big problem though is there is no real comparison to in-design. On the flip side though i heard windows on the mac even though it runs it runs extremely slow. (my machine has 2.5 GHz processor and 20 megs of ram). I bought this because i heard mac's are much better at doing design work.

Well, Mac software will just about always run better on the Mac.

If you have a Windows machine and Windows software running on it now, and the software runs well enough so that it's not holding you back, I'd leave the "Windows software on the Windows machine".

... And get Mac software for the Mac...

Windows 7 will run fine on a 2012 iMac just install it with bootcamp. CS4 is going to give you fits with any recent version of macOS.
