Just for fun in the world of disposable phones and quick updates to something new I wondered:

What is the oldest phone you still use in your rotation that you haven't retired yet? It don't have to have a sim card in it, can be wifi only.

Mine is a Nexus 6. Kind of showing it's age but still rocking a sim on my other line. Mostly used for data on another network.

2012 Galaxy Note 2 future proofed with 2GB DRAM and still works fine to this day as secondary phone.

2013 Moto G1 used on WIFI as land-line replacement, home assistant, announce new emails with Aqua Mail's text-to-speech, etc.

I used my Note 5 a month or so back...
I cranked up my Galaxy S a few months before that for a laugh but I wouldn't say I used it :D

I started up my original smartphone, a Huawei Ascend. Oh boy that trackball. Haha.

I certainly couldn't daily driver though it as it doesn't even have enough internal storage space to update Play Store services!

Well, it was an HTC one M7, but traded it in a couple months ago. I guess currently it's my Galaxy S7. I still have my Pre 3 that I occasionally turn on, but never really use.

iPhone 4 as a media music/podcast device. It’s currently sat on my work desk though being a camera..

Powered up my old galaxy S2 for nostalgia. Plan to maybe rotate my current iPhone 7 with my galaxy s6

Yeah, using the Galaxy S was nostalgic but I couldn't imagine using it unless I had no choice....
Thankfully I have a choice :D

My wife's only phone is a Samsung slider model from 2005. The D600.
She likes that it's small and she doesn't have to worry anyone will steal it!
Wait a minute, she is successfully getting by daily with a D600 in 2017!? That is insane

Samsung D600 was a major device at its time, I remember the huge marketing campaign behind it and the Samsung Ultra series at the time.

I had this shiny beauty around that time, the U700 used as a secondary device to my Nokia N81.

It used to be mine. Then I gave it to her. I've offered her a new phone many times, but she's happy with it.

Everything I bought in 2015-2016 is still on standby for something. HTC 10 for when I’m craving great sound. S7 and S7 Edge are for VR, just not lately. Iphone SE is currently “dormant” but I don’t consider it retired. My 6s Plus is at my sister in law’s house.

I have my husband’s iPhone 4 but couldn’t get it to charge. :( Otherwise I would use it as an iPod on my old speakers.

I don't have a rotation. Thankfully, I've never needed a backup phone. however, whenever I get a new phone my old one trickles down. I bought the X, my daughter has my 7+ and my dad got her 6s+. Everyone gets a built in upgrade although they are a year or two behind. :D

Xiaomi Mi 3

Flagship of 2013 but got it July 2014 for only $250. It's surprisingly still very smooth and fast. Still holds a decent charge.

3.5 years = Longest time I ever kept for a phone.

I legitimately still use an iPhone 3GS on a weekly basis at least. Sometimes with my active SIM in it. It still works with Spotify/Pandora, Telegram, Mail, iMessage, Calendar, weather apps, maps (offline too), tons of old games, etc. with no issues at all. Even all the way on iOS 6 (was running 4.1 still until recently because I wanted iMessage and some later app support).

It's fun using it as a primary phone nowadays. Helps keep me off social media and off my phone unless I actually need to communicate. Great for a week off to unplug a little. And the battery still holds 100% of it's original capacity and easily lasts the day.

I kid you not though, my father in law used a 3GS up until about a month ago, primary phone for all those years and never saw a need to upgrade. I replaced his battery in it this spring even.
