I am trying to make an informed decision about getting a new Iphone once it is out.
For Face ID: how well does it work at very low light? I often need to use my phone at night and touch ID is awfully handy for middle of the night phone unlocking.
How well does it work if you need to unlock the phone discretely in the middle of a meeting, does the phone need to face your face parallel?
OLED, I liked all of my Iphones over Samsungs in the past because I feel they are brighter and have less glare on sunny days outdoors.
If anything I will be upgrading to the larger Xs version, because LCD version is rumored not to have double lens camera. I take lots of photos at work and optical zoom is very handy. Most likely the cost will be over $1,000 and I am not sure if it is really worth it.

In my experience it works ok in the dark if you have your eyes open and are not laying flat on your back or side.

In a meeting I’ve found I have to pick up the phone and hold up to my face as it doesn’t work well flat on a table or down on your lap. I have to use the passcode in those type of situations.

For me, Face ID works rather well in pitch black darkness. Also enjoying the OLED and the benefits of it, although Apple isn’t taking advantage of the benefits when it comes to iOS.

Works fine in the dark but very poorly if you’re lying horizontally or half of your face is obscured by a pillow. If you don’t twiddle with your phone whilst in bed you’ll be fine.

Works great in my dark bedroom

The angles that I can activate it have increased over time. It will now open when I am positioned similar to the lady in the add coming up out of the pool.
