Hi all, is there a reliable way to restore the oleophobic coating on my 2018 iPad Pro? The screen smudges up instantly and it’s driving me insane. I bought the product as an apple certified refurb, could this be the issue? It has Apple Care plus - should I take it to apple for a replacement?

I don’t want to use a screen protector.

I don’t think so, however, I have seen some liquid screen protectors on Amazon, it’s like a spray which sort of does the same thing, not 100% sure how effective these are though

What other symptoms are you observing? In my experience, screen smudges are a "feechur" of the oleophobic coating. Every iPad w/oleophobic coating smudges up instantly right out of the box.

This one is far worse than my previous iPads. My 2017 pro which I still have is in great shape despite kids hands all over it. My 2018 12.9 was fine as far as I remember. But this one is terrible, the screen is almost illegible if it’s a dark background and brightly lit room

I recently tried out a 2020 model at my local apple store and it didn’t behave the same way, you can assume those units have been handled and sanitised a lot.

I’ll probably take it in to apple or just sell it and upgrade
