Im looking to buy a Mac. but i cant really decide which one to go with. Ive been stressing over this for weeks now and really good use some help. Right now all i do is make youtube videos of Video games (xbox 360) that i record via Hauppauge Hd pvr. ik the price is little much for that purpose but i can afford it. Ok my question is what do think the render times will be on each machine for a 720p HD video using Imovie or Final cut with h.264 encoding. i provided screen shots of the 3 configurations in the link below. I know that the mac pro or imac will be faster but i want to know how much faster and whether it justifies the increase price lack of display or loss portability.

Ok just one question...What are you going to be using it for?? I saw Macbook Pro, an iMac, and a Mac Pro...all use different form factors, reach different audiences, and essentially provide different solutions (i,e, novice user, home/work user, gamer, professional/super user)

So what is your uses for your future system? Also keep in mind the options you give are heavily off balance...for example... you mention on to of them a Core i7 Proc, but the other has a Xeon; You also only have 3GB on a Mac Pro but 4 GB of ram on your iMac and Macbook Pro; third, all three models are using drastically different graphics chipsets...each more powerful than the previous...So my question is why would you have a Xeon Processor with only 3GB of Ram and a great GPU but on the other hand have a macbook pro with substantial RAM yet a slower proc and [naturally] a slower gpu that is non upgradable. It all comes back to the question of what are you going to do with it?

::edit:: i just reread your OP and i see your uses. But the question still stands..Given what i said, what form factor would be best for you...and, also why the off balanced comparison?
