Am I missing something? ‘On my iPhone/iPad’ within Files seems to have disappeared with the latest betas. I don’t remember seeing this mentioned before. Going into ‘Edit’ doesn’t restore the functionality either. If this is permanent then it appears that Files will be nothing more than a corral for cloud based storage services. That’s useful, but irritating when I forked out for the 256gb 10.5 iPP thinking that iOS 11 would allow me to access local storage more or less directly.

I'm on the latest beta and 'On my iPhone' is there for me in the Files app. I can even use it as a destination for sharing.

I have Pages and Numbers installed as well so perhaps something that can use the location is required before the location will appear.

Hmm. I have those apps installed too. Will try restarting. Can you see it if you go straight to the Files app from the home screen?

ETA: I can see ‘on my iPhone’ from a share screen, but there’s no way to access it directly from the Files app. It’s not under ‘Locations’ — just iCloud Drive, Recently Deleted, and my third party options.

From what I can tell it isn't there because you have no files saved there.

It's unlikely you have an app that has been updated for iOS 11, so if all you have is the default Apple apps with nothing in them, it doesn't show up.

Save a document into one of the apps via safari and it appears again.

Sure enough, that works. Thanks!

I think it’s unnecessarily complicated, though, and it’s irritating that we can’t create our own folders under that section. Hmm. Suppose I’ll be sticking with DevonthinkToGo for managing collections of files for projects.

Frankly the more I use files the more I discover how limited it is. Will stick to Documents
