Got nw Apple TV. Very good so far. But ....
I dont get why there is no on/off switch.
All my other electronics have.
As most power cables are tucked away behind or under the cabinet its a pain. grumble grumble:p

From a top-level menu, hold the "Play/Pause" button down several seconds to turn the Apple TV off/hibernate it. Easy peasy.

You can also configure the Apple TV to automatically hibernate after a shorter period of time. I set mine to hibernate after 15 minutes.

Note that in hibernation, the Apple TV draws only .9W (it consumes about 2W when on), which is better than many devices' vampire draw in their "off" state.

It only draws 2W when playing movies. When idle it draws even less than that. Considering that the average light bulb draws 60W and the average DVR draws 30W when "off" I think worrying about if the Apple TV is sleep, off, or not is a nonconcern.
