just in case safari 11 is crap on my Sierra machine

also, the update isn't showing up for some reason in App Store, but I found a direct apple server URL dpkg link so I'm gonna attempt a manual install but I'd be more comfortable having ab backup of current version just in case it sucks

safari is great its my main browser

thanks

(also, FINALLY just updated 10.12.5 to .6, apprehensively on my sole machine 2016 13" nTB

but so far seems fine, fingers crossed

The problem with trying a new version of Safari is that "it's not easy to go back" because you can't just delete the new Safari app and replace it with an older one.

Safari seems to have "tentacles" that extend through the OS itself.

Seems to me that I tried to do this once, and the only way that worked was to clone an older backup -back to- my internal drive (Safari and all the rest of it). That worked.

So if you plan to upgrade Safari, I suggest you create a CLONED BACKUP of your current setup just before you "make the move". Otherwise, getting back to the old Safari isn't going to be easy.

Man, what a mess

I could do a full clone of my drive, but for the browser alone?

Why does apple make every thing so damn painful to roll back?

I think i might just stay put,

Do you happen to know where these tentacles are on the drive? Or is it seriously all over the place?
