Well,

I have been poking around the apple store now and then and playing with the iphone 3g. It seems to me that there are alot of questions unanswered.

Assuming my wife and i can pass a credit check with at&t and not be completely screwed with a massive deposit, what do i need to think of with the iphone:

1. Size.
I am reading in another thread here that a GPS type program would take 1-2 gigs of space??? Wow. So i guess 16 gigs is necessary? I have an 8 gig touch and after 9 months am not even up to 7 gigs used for music/video and apps through jailbreak.

2. Plan.
I guess i would have to spend $150 plus taxes and go for unlimited. Does at&t surcharge if i need to change my plan mid month? Does my contract start over if i do this?

3. Video recorder.
This also goes along with number 1. Do you think it is possible for a video recording application to be sold via the app store? From what i can see, the hacked versions are not great, but that 2mp camera could take some great video, and recently sega of america rep said the iphone was as powerful as a sega dreamcast was, so that means no reason the iphone cant take decent 640x480 video (in which case the 16 gig space is important)

4. Credit check pass.
I am scarred to think what the verdict will be. i have read horror stories. I am from canada and am waiting for my social security number to come in the mail (could take 90 days) and my wife is visiting family overseas... when she gets back we will put her credit down and see what deposit we will need. i assume something required, but last spring directv didnt want a deposit for their service, so who knows...

Well, that is all i suppose. any input appreciated.

1. I would get the 16 gig because the 8 gig will eventually be phased out when the 32gig comes out just like the iphone4gig.

2.If you change your plan midmonthm yes its prorated. Usually when u switch plans, it renews your 2yr contract.

3.App store MIGHT come out with a video app. Im sure one is in the works. Ive played with a few jailbroken ones on my old iphone and the quality was good but only lasted about 30 seconds.

4.Depends on your credit. You can always just stop by an att store or mall kiosk and have them run your credit so u know beforehand.
