Anyone get this game? It's by the guys that write Penny Arcade. Considering how much I read their site, I thought I would support them and buy it. If you read their comics or postings, you'll probably enjoy the game. I'm not sure how people unfamiliar with them will like it, but it still might amuse you.

The battle sequences are like those in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, except that it's not so much turn based. You still click on guys and choose attacks, who to attack, etc, and timing is important like in M & L, but the attacks just happen when each guy is ready for them. If you aren't trying to attack the enemies, they will be attacking you. Though it has defense and counters based on timing like in M & L, too.

Other than that it just has a fun animated style, lots of humor, and fun presentation. All things that make a game fun, which is what I'm looking for, though not necessarily "good," if that makes sense. Not saying it's not good, I just haven't gotten deep enough yet to say.

I'm not really a gamer, but I bet it's great. Pretty much everything they do is hilarious and they spent enough time on it that I'd even think about getting it just for the laughs.

I played through the demo, while the production and art were first rate, the story and humour felt a little too flat and whimsical.

I've heard good reviews of the game play. Enough to make me try the demo at least.

any help?

bought it and downloaded it. havent played it though  i get some kinda prompt when i try to start it up:
"Shader system failed to initialize! Make sure your display device drivers are current." i'm totally in the dark as to what this means...
anyone else get this? any help would be greatly appreciated.
i'm anxious to play as i've been reading PA since the beginning.
thanks in advance to any help

What system are you running?

sorry, i should have mentioned that stuff initially...
im running a
G4 iMac 1GHz running 10.4.11
nVIDIA GeForce 4 MX with 32 MB of VRAM
768 MB ram
OS supported keyboard and mouse as the game specs suggest
anything else needed?

I'm afraid it likely means your iMac is too old to play the game. Your video card (I think) is older than the game supports. Yours has 32MB of RAM and from the video requirements listed below, you need 64MB.

"ATI RadeonTM 9500 or better, NVIDIA GeForceTM FX 5200 or better, Intel® GMA 950 or better with 64 MB of video memory (shared or dedicated)*"

I'm running a similar setup but with a GeForce4 MX with 64MB ram, and am still getting the same error message

I did some digging, and it looks like the GeForce4 MX series does not support pixel shaders whatsoever, unlike the GeForce4 Ti series, for example.

Are there any workarounds for getting a pixel shader to work that don't involve me tearing my iMac apart to install a new graphics card?

I've just recently bought the full version, and I have to say that it has been really fun so far, not a bad game for $20. I do however have one issue. When I finally got into the theme park area, the mini-games, mostly the dart-throwing and, ball-throwing games make my screen go crazy. It is impossible to see the balloons and the bottles, I was only able to see the 2 sliding scales for the ball throwing game. Anyone else have this problem?

Oh yeah, I am running this game on a MBP 2.4 with 256mb ram. However I am running it in 10.4.11

Everything else in this game works perfectly though in fullscreen and high graphics though, which is kind of bizarre.
