The release will out in November. A couple of items that caught my eye:
  • Layers is now integrated....no longer a separate module that has to render images for the layers. Layers now uses the raw file(s) for doing the images in each layer.
  • Lr migration tool: not only updates with PR catalog about image locations..etc., the migration tool will analyze the Lr image edits and generate a similar PR edit. I think this is the first time a migration tool has attempted this

Migration tool sounds very useful. If nothing else it increases the competitive pressure on Lr.

How is the performance? I saw a webinar a couple weeks ago and the Layers component seemed to lag at times.

as I await the Luminar DAM (and on launch it looks like a basic desktop folder window with minimal DAM capbilities)
I am more and more interested in On1 Photo RAW. it looks great and what I expected Luminar to be a while ago.

I suppose LR migration tool will be coming soon.

I agree that what is supposed to be be in 2019 is partly should have been in a couple of years ago. Even this release does not let the users add DCP files. You can only select from the few profiles built in. Even Luminar lets you add DCP files. ;)

Compared to what? I never ran 2017 or 2018.x. So no reference performance for me. I have had no problem adding another image layer, filter layer, or adjustment layer.

I'm currently a DxO Photolab user, but their 'new' upgrade price for little benefit has me considering my options again. I have used ON1 in the past and liked the results. I did have a bit of a problem with the initial release of ON1 Photo Raw when it first launched, but from what I've read they seem to have resolved a lot of the issues. For $99 I might have another look into using it. Luminar is the other app I use, though not as much as I used to. DxO PL is great as a raw processor, but is a bit slow and has very little else to offer as far as apps like Luminar, PS, etc.

Might be time to download a trial and see what's what.

I logged in to my ON1 account today and find that I have ON1 Photo Raw 2018.5 as my latest version. I haven’t used ON1 for more than a year.
Anyway, loaded it up and went through 25 raw photos. Seems very familiar and the results came out very good.

I’ll have to give it some time and use before I decide to buy the 2019 version or not.
