one handed keyboard iphone - iPhone XS Max

Hi guys

Can someone with the iPhone XS Max tell me if the one handed keyboard features be set to permanent so we don't have to turn it on everytime we need to type. Also if the one hand keyboard feature set across all apps? WhatsApp, Skype, iMessage, Instagram....so forth

If you use the onehand keyboard within (for example) Whatsapp, the next time you open Whatsapp, it still is in the one-hand mode. Even after force closing the app (through the app switcher), it will still be in one hand mode.
