Dear Apple experts and very helpful forum members :)

I am setting up a media centre for my dad and wish to connect two TH Panasonic plasma's (one in bedroom and one in living room) to the iMac G5 (with iSight) that is in the office. Now, the distance between the iMac and living room TV (distance of how long the wires should be) is around 15ft. The distance (distance of how long the wires should be) bw the iMac and TH TV in the bedroom is 10ft.

Now I was thinking of the following (hope I am not way off ):

1) using the iPhone as a remote control through the wireless network :)

2) using the s-video cable and the audio jack output and splitting these signals to both tv's. I know that this option will let me watch the same thing on both TV's but I am fine with that.

Now the thing I need help with or advice about is how to connect the TV's to the iMac, which cables and if there is a device that splits the signal.

Hope everone had a very merry Xmas and lots of :)apple: presents)!

Use the vga to RCA adapter for the Apple. See attached file. Then split the RCA signal and run one cable to one tv and another to the second tv.

It will be a similar setup for the audio.

Thanks a lot MC!!!

Have been searching for something to split the audio but found nothing yet... anybody any suggestions?

the quality using s video will be crap. i think the max resolution is 800x600. not suitable for hd plasma tvs.

Yeah, but he's working with a VGA connection from the G5.

I never said this was ideal, just how he could go about doing it. Many people watch SD signals on their HD TVs and manage just fine.

If you want something really nice, get an Apple TV. I guessing from the OP that a certain budget is involved.

Again, only because you are asking if it is possible.
Get a mini male to two mini female splitter. You will only need one of these Y cables.
Attach a mini male to two RCA male to each of the ends of the Y cable. You will need two of these cables... doesn't have to be from iQube, it's just the brand that popped up when I did an image search.

See attached pics.

Personally I have no problem with it but my father may....

Now the apple TV, this would only allow him to watch the apple MP4 format's right? or would he be able to view other files (Divx, AVI etc?) and he would need one in both of the rooms then right? or does the apple TV have an output that could be split so 2 TV's can be set up with it?

Thanks for your quick and informative responses!
