I just updated my 2019 iMac to macOS 12.3.1. At the end of the update, I got a message to the effect of "One of your extensions (signed by Roland) will not be supported in a future version of macOS. Please contact the developer and let them know." So I went to System Preferences > Extensions and looked at all the categories, and there's nothing by Roland. I do have one Roland app installed: Boss Tone Studio for GP-10, which lets me configure and manage patches on my Roland Boss GP-10 guitar processor. It's a great app, because configuring patches on the unit's one-line LED display with its drill-down menu is a real pain. When I installed the app last year, the last available version was for macOS 10.15. However, it works fine with 12.3. That raises several questions:
- How can I tell whether the app includes an extension, even though it doesn't show up in my list of extensions?
- If it does, how can I tell whether that's the extension the 12.3.1 update was referring to?
- How can I tell which future version won't support it? Is it referring to one of the 12.x versions, or does it mean 13.0?
- What about that update will cause the extension not to be supported?
- Can I keep a bootable external drive with the last version that will support the extension so I can use Boss Tone Studio when I want to? Actually, if it means 13.0, I have a 2015 13" MBP for which macOS 12 probably is going to be the last available version, so I can use that.
