When I put my AirPods 2 in, sometimes the right or left doesn't make the little tone it should when you put them in, and music only plays from one pod. The fix is to just take them both out and re-insert them. Is this due to my ears not being perfect or a bug of some kind? It's just recently started happening. More an annoyance than a real problem--they work fine once you get them both working at once. No drop outs.

I have this issue as well, and it seems totally random. For me I frequently have to put them back in the case, wait about 10-15s then put them back in. I’d say this happens about 1/3 of the time for me

I have the same issue with original AirPods. I do find that if I let the music/podcast play for a few seconds, sometimes the second AirPods will turn on. If not, then I have to do as Steve28 does, and put them back into he case and then pull them back out.

I never have to put them in the case, I just take them out of my ears and re-insert them and voila. Battery and connection seems quite stable though.
