Howdy,

I'm currently running a Jailbroken 3.0.1 iPhone 3GS. I just found out about blackra1n and would like to upgrade to 3.1.2, and jailbreak. My question is, must I restore my phone first, then upgrade, and then jailbreak? Or can I just upgrade from the jailbroken 3.0.1 to a clean 3.1.2 and then re-jailbreak?

Thank you.

You can do both methods. I personally recommend you restore then upgrade to 3.1.2 then jailbreak but you can also just upgrade to 3.1.2 and re-jailbreak.

You will get better results if you restore as a new phone and jailbreak. That's what I think you should do.

Although it seems obvious, I'm still going to ask. What particular things will be better?

Restore then re-jailbreak

You could try it either way but for the lowest chance of failure restore to 3.1.2 first, then re-jailbreak. :)
