I just wanted to say that I love the new iMovie, if only for one reason: Core Video. The Effects in iMovie to me have always been a weak point. They don't even preview well on a dual G5, let alone a consumer mac. But with the addition of Core Video effects, you can do real-time adjustments and previews of a whole list of effects and it works beautifully. I love it. This should be listed as the new feature added, not Themes, because the difference from the previous version is night and day. I love it! I knew Core Video would be useful for something more than the ripple effect, and here it is.

On another note though, iMovie has some slight reliability issues, though I'm going to try and repair permissions again and see if that helps. If not I assume a 6.0.1 update is in the works.

I'm still waiting for my copy of iLife 06 to arrive.

I'm looking forward to trying out the new iMovie (core video effects/multiple projects open/audio adjust) and iPhoto (full-screen edit/faster) features. Tinkering with the idea of a podcast in Garageband as well :)

What reliability issues are you finding with iMovie?

You're absolutely right! I didn't even account for that when I was doing a video with it last week  , silly me.

Actually the whole package is great. Have you tried the new GarageBand and your iMovie? You can add sound effects, voice overs and so forth.
