Well, a week has now passed since many of you first got hold of the iPhone.

Has it reached your expectations, exceeded them, or fallen short?

I'd be very interested to hear your views (and your reasons for them). :)

Well my first one locked up every time i tried to use wifi, this one is flawless so far (knock on wood).

Love the phone!! The fun of playing with this phone helps the fact that some features are missing.

Bring me ichat!!!

9/10

Delighted as can be! Coming from Windows Mobile devices, this is a breath of fresh air in many aspects.

1) No need to use the damn stylus anymore. Finger input ROCKS!
2) No need for task management.
3) Speed of the device is amazing.
4) I don't need a stand alone iPod anymore.
5) Continuous updates which means boat load of surprises!
6) Best browser on the friggin planet. Those talking about Opera or Netfront don't know what they are talking about. Nothing comes close to Safari on the iPhone and with flash support coming, its only gonna get sweeter.
7) WOW factor!
8) Amazing battery life.
9) Camera works great for daytime shots.

Anyone who doesn't have an iPhone should really get one. This is one SWEET device.

Cheers.

I'm thrilled with it. It allows me to do a lot of things that I would normally have to wait to do till I got on my laptop. It saves me a lot of time and keeps me entertained when I'm waiting somewhere.

I just got mine yesterday. So far it's been decent but the more I use it the more I start liking it.

I don't find myself using very many features except for Phone, Mail, Safari, iPod, and Notes. Calendar I'll probably start using more often once I get all my stuff synced up along with Photos. I'm looking forward to using the Camera part more in the future too.

Stocks and Weather are really simple but fun diversions I guess.

What I REALLY like is that the phone seems to stay on EDGE so that it doesn't have to reconnect if you don't touch it for a long time unlike my old phone. Makes browsing a real pleasure on the device even when I'm not in a wifi area :).

Also, the thing is beautiful as heck. A real work of art.

GoogleMaps is more fun to me then a nintendo.

I zoomed into the Vatican and turned on images and my grandfather was just floored.

I also like to use it to find stuff around me when I am in another town.

Starbucks, MyTown

neat.

It's awesome! A few downsides including iPod quiting randomly when surfing safari, they battery isn't all that great but it gets me through a day, and mainly I'm constantly worried about keeping it nice...I have to get over that!

9.5/10

Overall I love it. Far more useful than my old phone (RAZR).
- Phone - it's good, not great. Biggest gripe is dialing/answering calls when in the car, even with bluetooth headset
- Text Messaging - Works great, I text much more than I used to.
- Browser - Best I've ever used on a cellphone, it IS the internet
- iPod - Great as an iPod. Excellent video and music battery life

Room for improvement - Support for flash, mail, stability issues, copy & paste

Biggest Gripes -
headphone jack - people have invested hundreds of dollars on headphones for their iPod, and to have a jack they don't work with (without the help of an exacto knife) is almost inexcusable.

3rd party apps - There are thousands of developers salivating over the possibility of programming for the iPhone platform. The iPhone is sexy, but every other phone maker will come out with something similar. It will be software & killer apps that keep the sales going.

I totally love my phone!!! I do have a weird battery thing happening but I'm hopeful that it will be fixed with an update.

Battery thing - it doesn't reach a full charge after an all night charge (it doesn't transition to an "AC icon" - still charges). I powered it off completely today and it seems to be working better, reached a full charge today for the second time.

That said, did I tell you that I love this phone. I can only imagine how the second gen will be... :D

Deeeelighted

I don't think I've had this much fun playing with a new 'toy' since I was a kid! Plus, it is absolutely increasing my ability to be productive and creative wherever I am. I can do online research from the couch, send emails from bed, jot down to-dos in line at the store, schedule appointments as soon as I make them and even check prices online for comparison. I did that before buying an iPhone accessory at my AT&T store -- they wanted $10 more than the Apple store! I bought it at my local Apple store instead.

I love having access to so much info and work tools wherever I happen to be (though WI-FI makes that happen SO much easier) and without having to carry my MBP around. I just got AirPort Extreme so wherever I am at my home/office I don't have to wait on EDGE -- which has been my biggest disappointment and biggest SURPRISE from Apple. I would have expected a better arrangement than this throwback to dial-up.

All in all, I'm in love with this thang -- it's like keeping my life in my pocket.

only a genuine pessimist could use this phone and lament what it is not and not love it for what it is.

These are the same kind of people who meet the perfect girl then dump her because she has weird earlobes.

Is it perfect? no, of course not.

But it does so many things so well, it is a joy to use.

The OP should make a poll..

Worthy question.
All in all.I am very pleased with the iPhone. It has a few bugs and quirks but I believe Apple will fix those with ease over the next couple months.

I'm thrilled with my iPhone. Edge could be better but the addition of WiFi makes this a great web device. The iPod and photo apps are awesome.

The UI, design of hardware and software and apps make the price seem like a Bargin.

Ps sent from my iphone.

Happy 1-week Ann"i"versary Everyone!!

I am pleased as punch. I don't care for EDGE, Safari has crashed, the screen delays when turning the phone vertiically or horizontally, but it's cool. I can make a LONG LIST of things I love.

I have had a smile on my face for a straight 7 days. :D

Don't you love the ability to check prices right there? I had the 8525 before this, so if some saleperson told me that a gadget was the best, i'd look up reviews online right there in the store. Boy, did they get annoyed, LOL!!

Re. a "throwback to dial-up," I have to agree. That's the main downer for me too.

I'm completely loving it. It isn't perfect, but I've been using it all week on vacation, and it has proven to be both useful and fun. I'd give it a 9.5/10.

with the exception of safari sometimes just quitting and returning me to the home screen.... I'm very happy.

I'd give it an 11/10... but with the safari problem... maybe a 9.5?

ALSO: consider adding a poll on this issue?

I love my iPhone after 1 week (picked it up @10:30pm last Friday.

I have always been an early adopter and know that Apple will address minor issues with software upgrades.

Besides the great GUI, I love the sound quality, the durability (always a weakness in the iPod), and there is Wifi everywhere in SoCal so I'm getting pretty decent internet (1500 kbps.) Edge is alright (200 kbps) and have no desire for the interim 3G..

I have owned pretty much every phone in the upper brackets and the iPhone is in a class all by itself.

I've notice the battery issue on charging and I finally caught what it is doing.
When the phone reaches a full charge the indicator goes to the fully charged icon, then it starts the standby clock, and then it changes back to the charging logo.

This device is wonderful.

The only thing that bothers me are the crashing safari and screen smudges like mad, but it is fairly easily cleaned.

I'm also happier with AT&T than I expected to be, so far they've provided me with service equal to that of Verizon, and this is a much better phone hardware wise, I have no complaints.
