I have a file I access both at work at home. This is pretty much the only reason I have OneDrive at home and the only file I need to do this with. I haven't had to even open the file in a few months.

The other day I made some adjustments at work (it's an Excel tracking employee training). I was going to do a quick look at home so I opened Finder, went to OneDrive, opened the file, and saw it was from several months ago. I realized OneDrive wasn't running. When I started it again it updated my file with the one I just opened that has old information.

Is this how it works? No safeguards? It's not that big of a deal but I was hoping things would work a little better than this.

having opened the "old" file, you changed it somehow (maybe the "last accessed" attribute?), when you started onedrive, it considered it newer and uploaded it to the cloud.

but you should have the list of previous versions:
- open the onedrive folder
- right click on the file
- version history
- click on the three dots next to the version you want to restore
- click on restore or download

Yes, I was able to change it to an older version.

Then I removed my work account and turned off my personal account. For work, I can just use the online version.
