I've been reading posts in this forum for several months, this is my first post. I finially ordered my first MBP 15inch 2.4Ghz on edu discount today. It's my first mac and first notebook, It says it's est. arrival 30/07, at the comfirmation. I didn't relise it will take this long, this will be like a week into the new semester. Anyone who ordered one in Australia give a clue how long online order takes?:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Thanks!

if its a custom order be prepared for perhaps an even longer wait. not trying to freak you out, just don't want you to be horrified. do you have access to an apple store in your part of Aus? I would go directly there if you can or see o they have in stock and can ship to you.

I've generally had pretty speedy deliveries with the online store (I'm from Sydney by the way). There is a delay, for a variety of rumored reasons, on the new 15" macbooks, particularly if they are configured to order. Going to an applestore would be a good idea, otherwise, personally, I think it would be worth the wait into the semester.

No Apple Stores here, just some resellers. :(

Yes, but they wouldn't give students edu discount only for teachers in most store. Students only get discount online, I've asked. Which is the main reason I ordered online. Not sure about the Smart Shop in Melbourne Uni, but they closed between semester breaks, so the new MBP wouldn't be in stock anyway. If I order then, it will take another 2-3 weeks into the semester. My order was only glossy configured, would it be on time?

Great news! For those who still waiting around the world (me too :(). I think the MBPs are slowly back in supply. My 15inch 2.4Ghz, glossy MBP has been shipped 18 July, where ordered 9 July. Delivery expected on or before 24 July to Melbourne via TNT. Let's hope we all get a problem free MBPs by now!!! :)

I don't think Apple cares when you ordered because some of us have been waiting six weeks and still haven't received their. In one of the threads (maybe this one) that they were told by Apple that customers getting theirs sooner were just luck. Which BTW, after calling Apple about the delay in mine, makes as much sense as any of the other lame excuses they give. Heck I am pretty sure it makes more sense the some of the other excuses given.

Than it may be the demanding problem in different countries. As in US, you guys starting a new acadamic year and promotions etc, there should be heaps of orders. :apple: need to make should most people are happy, so they need to share the supply between countries. Therefore other places such as south of the earth in Australia not as demanding, not much people wanting them atm. May be :confused:

I just ordered mine (South Aus) and eta for shipping is 1/08/07, and delivered 3/08/07

Thats 2 weeks into the semester :(
