I understand the process now after understanding how Apple does it.
Let me clarify a few things. I ordered from home and went to pickup from the store for the Apple experience.
If you purchase as a guest your order is not automatically tied to an Apple ID account. As per Apple ‘s Confirmation email “
How do I view or change my order?
Go to Order Status, then sign in to add your order to your Apple ID. You can make changes to, return, or cancel eligible items there.”
Apple should have also stated that this is where you can view your receipt.
Once I signed in to my Apple ID ( after I left the store and returned) then my order was added and I had a digital receipt which I could print out if I wanted a hard copy.
I agree with Apple ‘s desire to reduce its paper footprint and how easy it is to get a digital receipt. However, in my situation, I never received an email receipt to the email I used to purchase as a guest( which I showed the employee the email string) , was not offered the option of a physical receipt or told how to get a receipt by signing into my Apple ID account at time of pickup and tying my order to my Apple ID.
I wanted a physical receipt b/c I was buying a high ticket item which to return, get warranty claim , purchase AppleCare or just show proof of ownership one always asks to show your receipt.
Its all good. Not to bore members with this. 😀
