As I stated in the "why 2-4 week wait on apple.com?" thread, I expected Apple to pleasantly surprise it's online customers by saying the estimated ship time would be 2-4 weeks and delivering in under 2. This would win Apple some brownie points while still protecting them if shipments didnt arrive for 4 weeks. Today my theory was proven correct when I received this email:

"To Our Valued Apple Customer:

Good news! We're happy to let you know your iPhone will ship by July 6th,
2007. Visit Order Status <http://www.apple.com/orderstatus> for the most
current information on your order. iPhone orders will ship in the order they
were placed. We're working hard to ship your iPhone as soon as possible. Thank
you again for shopping on the online Apple Store.

Sincerely,
The Apple Store Team
"

God bless :apple: :D
My iPhone cant come soon enough!

Seems like Apple did a good job with supply with this phone. But I wonder what's the holdup on the bluetooth headset? I ordered one and as of now Apple says it'll arrive August 2.

Hopefully this doesn't meant that they are selling less iPhones than expected.

If they expected to sell more than half a million over the weekend then...damn. I'd say they're pretty happy with the numbers considering every phone has to be locked into a contract with AT&T and the monthly cost of the phone. It's pretty remarkable, I think, that a device can cause people to jump into a marriage with the devil. Especially the survey that said about 50% of the purchasers switched from a different network. It's pretty damn remarkable and I'm sure Apple is pretty pleased

My guess is the actual number has to be less (we'll see). But still, it was a great launch for the iPhone, especially from a player that has zero cell phone experience.
