Hey guys, if people are having no probs getting their iPhones, (some went in this morning to get them), then why such a long wait from the online store?

Because they are giving most of them to Apple and AT&T stores. That's why you can walk in to a store and buy one today.

You'd have to be an idiot to buy via the online store .... anyone can drop by any Apple or AT&T store anywhere in America today and get an iPhone. You people who waited in lines are fools.

BTW, kudos to Apple for scaring all the blogs and tech writers and keeping the activation nightmare story quiet. Let's see if the Apple PR machine can spin the "plenty of iPhone still available on July 4th" story in their favor too.

I just think they put it up as longer rather than shorter just in case demand is so high that the devices dont ship out within the time they said and customers get upset. I wouldnt be surprised if they start showing up at peoples doorsteps next week, to be honest.

It is a retail principle setting expectation levels. Say 2 to 4 weeks and deliver in 7 days then they look good.
