I'm looking for a good software package that will allow me to create tests that will be administered online. Ideally, the test results will be saved in a MySQL database, but that feature is not a "dealbreaker." Software will need to support images that can be embedded in the questions.

I've seen several good commercial packages, but they're all several hundred dollars -- some are thousands of dollars. Were I an "enterprise," the fee would be no problem.

Appreciate your suggestions. Believe me, I've searched, and I haven't found what I'm looking for; hence, the request for help. Thanks!

I will talk to him on Tuesday.

I doubt he took the time to make a nice front end. It's probably all command line.

I think such a program can be done easily using PHP/MySQL.

Are these multiple choice/true false kind of tests?

The tests are multiple choice. Some will use illustrations. I basically need to a setup that would allow the person to sign in with a User Name and a Password, take the tests and then have the system record the results in a MySQL database.

try quia.com. my school uses it for the kind of thing you do. best of all (or worst of all, depending on what you want), it's already all set up.

Quia is a great suggestion, but the last I checked, they offer only hosted solutions. I'm looking for a software package that I would own and could host on my own server.

Thanks for a good idea.
