They need to make a 'folder' system so you can have all your games under a Game button, etc, etc.

12 pages is 192 apps. So, you HAVE to HAVE that many? How many do you actually use? I bet less than 80, that is 5 pages.

How many are free? Once you start paying and using the apps, the numbers will go way down.

Yes, that's what Categories for Jailbreak does.

You can make categories eg "Games," "Utilities," "eBooks," etc.

I'm presently typing a letter.

PS: Previous poster, remember that you have ~16 Apple installed, undeleteable apps on your device.
So, 16x9=144, -16=128
That's 128 apps you can, in reality, install on the device.

That's a lot!!

I dunno how you'd ever fill that many up!!

Your right I forgot about the 15 that has to stay. So that leaves 129. Still enough to live with.

I can see how that could quickly fill up...

Personally, I have my homescreen with the default apps, except camera replaced with Podcaster (the infamous app, I'm the support guy PM me for more + a special deal!), BrightKite in top left, and Twinkle in left of dock.

Then I have my frequented apps on the 2nd page
Games on 3rd
Other apps on 4th
And unused on 5th

I have 189 at the moment, but about 75 or so currently installed on the phone.

I do the same thing I do with music, just install apps based on my needs or wants at the moment. When I go on vacation, for example, I'll install more games and different apps to help pass the time or address travel needs.

What I would like is something better in iTunes to manage apps. Currently you can't build an app "play list" or manage your page layout or display your app collection by category, or.... well you get the idea.

Actually, there are 19 un-deletable apps: App Store, iTunes Store, Calendar, Photos, Camera, YouTube, Maps, Weather, Clock, Calc, Notes, Settings, iPod, Phone, Mail, Safari, Text (SMS), Stocks, and Contacts. Minus the four dock spots, you can install 129 extra apps. But who is counting? Heh.

I've filled mine up several times. Then I have to go through a "cleansing". Sometimes I just grab an app while it's free, even though I might not need it right at this moment. The simple addition of a games folder button would eliminate about 3-4 pages from my iPhone.

You don't need all those apps. I have around 3 pages of apps. apart from the default page that is. Ones for games, ones for utilities and ones for crap stuff that doesn't belong in the first two categories.

even though I don't see myself hitting the limit anytime soon, I'd still love categories so I wouldn't have to so much clutter or scroll to my 5th page to get an app.

While they're at it, they could delete the contacts app and make it an AppStore downloadable. That'll give you an extra space :)

first off, i completely agree with the person/people who created this thread. i came to it hoping to find some answers or suggestions around this ridiculous limitation. however, all i've seen is a bunch of people complaining about how many apps others download, which is neither helpful nor relevant.

the point is the phone has 8GB or 16GB of storage. if people (like myself) have a couple of GB of free space there is no reason to say we can't use that space for downloading more apps. that would be like telling someone they can only put so many songs on the phone even though they have plenty of room for more. i don't need to justify why i would want 10 pages of apps on my phone, the simple fact is if i want 10 pages and i have plenty of free space remaining, then i should be able to have 10 pages of apps. the restriction to 9 pages is arbitrary and unnecessary.

i hope apple removes this limitation. and more preferably allows for grouping into folders.

100+ apps seems a little too much. i'm constantly deleting apps that i don't use often. i could easily fill up 9 pages, but i don't like to clutter my phone with useless apps like a lighter or lame games.

Agreed. To the OP, try using search next time. This subject has been discussed a lot already.

And I am still trying to figure out why I need to have the wasted "Contacts" app on my phone. I mean it only takes a couple of seconds to the the "phone" button and then the "contacts" list from there.

Talk about lazy.
