Only admin can connect via AFP?

For some reason, Standard users no longer can mount remote folders via AFP. It has always worked until last night. The list of folders appear, but after selecting the folder to mount, I get this:

Yet, when attempting the mount using an admin account but using the same credentials (of the Standard user), it works.

The problem seems to be only on this El Capitan machine. I have tried it from another El Capitan machine (same credentials and everything) and it works.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try turning file sharing off and on for 10.1.0.1, double check the system preferences sharing and make sure nothing strange is going on. Also maybe try SMB instead of AFP.

Tried both toggling and SMB on the destination machine (Synology NAS), but still does not work.

Very strange that it is only this one Mac that is not connecting to the NAS, and it's only failing when using a Standard user account. If I were to use an Admin account, and use the same credentials to connect, it works.

Standard account + Credentials A = fails
Admin account + Credentials A = works

On another Mac, both cases work.

Maybe create a second Standard account on that Mac and see if that can or cannot access the share?

Yes, tried that too. Did not work.

sounds like time for a backup of data and clean install.
