Righteo, my problem is this -

i keep failing vista home premium because it needs 1gHz processor as a MINIMUM, well i have two 1.83 rigggght? (macbook NOT core2due)

surley that means i have 3.32 (i think - terrible maths) so why am i failing a 1ghz minimum? very gutted.

i think because im on bootcamp it can't run to the full potential (for instance, it says i have 998Mb ram when i have 1GB) but thats half an a wee bit less that what i have for processor, so i'm thinking only one of my processors is working through bootcamp?

If i have got this all wrong just tell me, i'm not pretending to be a mac expert, i'm a total novice. thanks alot
PS - in device manager it says i have 2 processors at 1.83, so they can both be seen!

You shouldn't be failing the minimum for processor, even with one core as 1.83>1,

btw it says you only have 998MB RAM, because it's using the other 26MB RAM to run the graphics card. (1GB=1024MB)

The duel core should be about 1.5x as powerful as the same clockspeed for a single program (well core solo vs duo, not P4 vs duo), even if it coud only use one processor it would be almost twice as powerful as the minimum system requirements, so I don't know what the deal is.

EDIT: to EraserHead, thanks for the clarification on the ram.

It says you have 998 MBs Ram because of the stupid (1000MB=1024MiBs) so it is really 998*1024 bytes of ram, not 1000 * 1000 marketing bytes, but it is really the same amount when it comes to programs.

This is wrong, it is only true for hard drives not RAM, the reason is the graphic card on the Macbook uses some RAM as graphics memory.
