Hey guys/girls....

Randomly opened the Notes app today and it said "No Notes" Now I've had this phone for several years now and I had several important Notes saved on my phone. I don't understand how it happened, but even after doing a hard reset of my phone, my iPhone automatically deleted all my Notes??

What I do have is an iTunes (local, unencrypted) backup from roughly a month ago so I could go ahead and just do that BUT that would overwrite a months worth of pictures, text messages, phone call history, etc wouldn't it?

I have already found where that backup is stored locally and have copied it, but it seems my Notes are not stored in plain text format but some proprietary Apply format (as usual). Now, with this backup can I somehow just extract just the Notes and somehow just restore the Notes to my iPhone without overwriting anything else?

iBackupBot is your friend in this case. Get it HERE.

However, before you do that I would check something. Go into settings>notes and see what the default account is. There's a chance it may have been changed if you also have a Gmail or other type of account set up on your phone as the usual default would probably be iCloud. At least that's the default account I have my notes saved under. Maybe that will help, maybe it won't. iBackupBot will be your savior otherwise.

Thank you!

iBackupBot did the trick, and it's free :) It automatically detected my backup from iTunes and allowed me to navigate and view all the contents of the backup as plain text. Then I just copy/pasted the info I had in the backup notes to .txt files, emailed them to myself, opened up the emails on my iPhone, and then copy/pasted the info to new notes.

Thanks again

For future reference, I don't have anything under Settings>Notes other than being able to change the font used for the Notes....The other stuff you are talking about must have come in later iOS versions.
