My USB speakers worked fine..

Perhaps you should tell us what other speakers you're trying to use and how they plug-in?

Yea I had the same problem. The realtek drivers had not installed properly. I realised this cos in the Device Manager there was a PCI DEVICE without drivers (this the the sound card). To resolve it I ran the setup program in

c:\Program Files\Macintosh Drivers for windows XP\realtek\

After installing the drivers and getting the sound working on the external speakers you will need to turn down the volume of the internal speakers so that they cannot be heard. This must be a 'Feature'.

Good Luck :)

Hi chas0001

Thanks but i have tried reinstalling, but without luck. I have no PCI devices without a driver other then the usual 4 under system devices and the "Other devices" with the ? opposit of it (Base System Device).

Oh dear. Are the realtec drivers installed? Is there a Realtek icon in the task bar?

My speakers have digital input so I had to turn the volume up physically on my external speakers and turn the internal speaker volume right down (via sound devices in control panel).

not sure what else to suggest.

Yes the Realtec drivers are installed. I have tried switching between different speaker both active and "normal" speakers but nothing happens.

I've got the same issue. I can't listen to my headphones without broadcasting the internal speakers on my Laptop. Anyone know how to turn down internal speaker sound but keep the headphones playing?

Thanks.

I can't get the drivers to install even. Keeps telling me I need to install the "microsoft bus drivers" first, but I can't figure out which they are. Anyone else had this problem?
