Do not want to keep typing my password in over and over when booting. Is there a way that I can set up my 2021 MBP M1 Pro to just used my finger print? If so, please detail as I am not too familiar, yet, with macs.

Thank you.

Nope it’s part of Touch ID - have a look at Apple’s support article:

  • If you still have to enter your password: For security, you need to enter your password when you start your Mac. Sometimes you need to enter your password to continue using Touch ID. For example, users must re-enter their password every 48 hours and after five incorrect fingerprint attempts.

Nothing you can do other than putting your Mac to sleep instead of shutting down all the time. This is what most people do anyway, very little power should be consumed while it's sleeping.

Even if you did, TouchID resets after a certain time frame which means you have to retype your password to enable TouchID again.
