I'm using several messengers on my iPhone 6s, but i haven't figured out how to have an almost silent - but not mute - smartphone when receiving messages.

For SMS and iMessage the iPhone only vibrates, that's perfect, but Threema and WhatsApp don't seem to have options for that or i can't find the correct settings for "no beeping, only vibration".

I have to add that i have my phone always in mute, because i hate auto-playing videos and all other beeping. I watch videos with in-ears, without headphone the thing should only be allowed to vibrate which doesn't disturb/distract others (and me) that much.

If you have the phone on silent, how are any app notifications making sounds?

Ehm..i have to rephrase that part, my fault.

The phone is completely silent in silent mode, but i would like to have SOME audible notification for new messages. But up to now i haven't found the correct settings for this. All messengers should be allowed to vibrate in silent mode, same goes for calls, but nothing else. For SMS and iMessage i got that part covered, but not for Threema and WhatsApp. For calls there is that annoying super speed vibration, which i think has a slider to slow it down a little.

Sorry, so are you looking to have some apps to have audible notifications in silent mode? Or are you looking to keep things in normal (not silent mode) but have most of them only make notifications using vibrate and no sound (so that only a few actually use sound)?

I want to have to iPhone set to "Non Silent" and be able to force Whatsapp to "Only Vibrate", can this be done?

This way I can hear my ringtone, reminders, calendar and third party apps sounds, but save myself from hearing every whatsapp message; I JUST WANT TO FEEL IT!; i know I can set sound to "none" in Whatsapp, but that is not what I want. I want it to vibrate withoit having to set my iPhone to Silent Mode.

So?

I think you put "Vibrate on Ring" on and then simply turn off "sound" for WhatsApp under notification. I think that should work...
EDIT: Unless WhatsApp has to vibrate + sound, I'm not sure. I don't have it on my phone.

Perhaps if WhatsApp offers an option like that, but probably not (at least not without a jailbroken device with some tweak that allows for something like that).
