Onyx app (4.7.x) for Sequoia has a new feature (or at least one I haven't noticed yet!) called "Autosize Columns" in Finder parameters, but I'm not sure how it's supposed to work.
(Location in the app: Parameters > Finder > Windows > Autosize Columns)
The very minimalistic user guide (by pressing the "?" mark in the window) only gives this explanation:
I use List view, so I turned it on, resized all the Name columns in my many Finder windows/tabs to the width I like, then did a restart. But the Finder windows all opened with the Name columns back to how they always are (too small to read the contents, as per always!).
Q: Does any one know how this is supposed to actually work?
Is this the mythical longterm feature fix for Finder's List view we've all been waiting for, that magically keeps the widths of our columns just as we left them, between closing then opening Finder, and/or Mac restarts? Or is this something completely different? I've tried playing around with it, but I'm buggered if I can work out what it does!?

- Autosize columns
You can use this option to turn on or turn off whether column width is automatically adjusted in the Finder windows.
