i just realized that in the aim app you can send messages to phone numbers. Can i say: FREE UNLIMITED SMS MESSAGES

I believe it works for US/Canada only...

I thought about this too and have tried it. It works, HOWEVER, the stupid AIM app LOVES to disconnect you and ignore incoming msgs if you're not in the app, so until the Notification service is up and running in (sept?) you can't really rely upon it for receiving TXT msgs...

I plan to go this route in Sept however and drop the TXT msging rip-off plan...

Check AT&T first before you consider this a free SMS app. Reason being is they've put up some FAQs regarding Instant Messaging as it applies to all capable phones and indicated the usage fees. I'm not saying that you are wrong, just saying that it may not be as free as you think.

I didnt discover it. I read an article on the web from engadget.com.

I know you cant recieve messages but it will cut your messages in half. Since i only have the 200 text plan i can send my text messages for free now but i will just have to pay for the ones received. SO 50% of my texts wont count towards my 200.

But people when they get a txt they'll just hit a reply and you won't get it until you log in again.

You have to pay to receive messages? Is that correct?

What kind of f*cked up system is that?
