I have a bootable disk image on a external drive. how can I open it so I can boot to the image from the external FireWire drive. I hope this makes since. This is for a client and needs to be ASAP. thanks for the help.

here is a little more info. I have a OS X.2 image mounted on a external FireWire drive. I have 10.1 installed on this iBook. I can see the image as a startup disk option, and I can also select the installer and it will reboot, but not the drive, only my iBook HDD.

did you just put a .dmg file onto your external HD or did you extract it onto the HD using disk utility's restore option?

In sisk utillity I do not see "restore." Also, can you boot to a USB deivce? I don't think so but am not compleatly sure.
