Hi guys, I'm new here.. I'm trying to use OCLP to upgrade my iMac, but can't get it to work.. its an iMac 27-inch Late 2013 (Intel i5 3.4Ghz Quad-Core, 16GB RAM DDR3, NVIDIA GTX 775M 2GB, Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB. I tired it with all OS versions, from Ventura all the way to the latest Sonoma but it just keep crashing mid-install and then boots to either a black screen or to a folder symbol with a question mark on it with a URL below (support.apple.com/mac/startup). I looked online as well and can't find anyone with similar issue... any ideas?

Reinstall the latest supported version of macOS (Catalina macOS 10.15) for your iMac using USB install media.

Run hardware diagnostics to verify there isn't a hardware issue

Follow step-by-step guides to install OCLP

Thanks, Bigwaff. I restored my iMac using a Time Machine backup, so I'm back on Catalina. I ran diagnostics on my internal SSD, and it came out clean. My iMac seems to be working perfectly, so I don't think there are any hardware issues.

I want to give the upgrade another try and ensure I do it correctly. Here's what I did last time:

1. Created an OCLP (1.4.3) bootable USB drive configured for my 14,2 iMac model.
2. Booted from the OCLP USB drive, selected the USB's EFI, and then chose to install macOS Sonoma.
3. Reached the installer screen (attached a screenshot I found online to illustrate where the Sonoma install crashed).

The progress bar showed around 17-20 minutes remaining, then the system rebooted without completing the progress bar.Should the system reboot before the progress bar completes, or is that a sign of an issue?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
