Does anyone know if this is possible? It looks like I am only able to see the file inside of Goodreader.

Thanks!

I've been wanting to do the same thing... I wrote the developer of GoodReader asking if this was possible and if not, would this be in a future release?

I know that you can open Keynote, Pages, and Numbers documents in these applications when they are sent as email attachments. I'd rather open them from GoodReader instead.

The problem is not goodreader -> iWork apps. That is doable via email at the very least.

The problem is iWork apps -> goodreader. Impossible without a ridiculous workflow involving the mac and itunes.

It's not an ideal way, but you can email the document and access web interface of your email in GoodReader, retrive the file back into GR.

This would indeed be the magic bullet if you could BOTH open an a/s document in say Pages, AND save it back to a/s, WITHOUT creating multiple instances of the document. Or, at the very least, when you go BACK to a/s, if it would save OVER the prior version...

Someone please do confirm!

Based on the threads in Avatron's forum (the author), it looks like Air Sharing HD can now open files alright in pages, keynote, etc. but once you've saved the modified file, there is no way to get that version back into Air Sharing HD except by e-mailing it to yourself, then opening the attachment back into Air Sharing HD.

Apple really needs to figure out a much better workflow on this.

But at least now ASHD makes it easy to go in one direction.

seeing iWork docs in Goodreader

Looks like Goodreader can't yet access iwork.com, but you can put your iWork docs on Dropbox (the new beta version deals with them ok, reportedly) or your iDisk, or even Google Docs (I understand you have to have a paid account to upload nonstandard filetypes, though) and Goodreader can fetch them from there.

You can also turn on file sharing in Goodreader, then wirelessly connect to it from a desktop web browser and upload and download files and even create folders in the Goodreader directory. For this, tap on the Airport icon at the bottom of the Goodreader window.

Personally, I like the iTunes-document-transfer functions in the iTunes Apps tab quite a lot, for Goodreader and iWork. It's fast and easy. The advantage of something like Dropbox is that you always have an updated version of your doc, without having to keep track of where you changed it last--unless you have to upload it from Goodreader after editing, which I have not experimented with yet.

The more I poke around in Goodreader, the more impressed I get.

Give some serious thought to jailbreaking, and if you do, pick up the free Cydia app "iFile". With this app, you can access the file system of the device and copy/move any file stored in any app to any other app or email any file. iFile removes a huge restriction and makes the iPad far more like a laptop.

Yes this works fine. In good reader goto manage files, choose a doc file, click on the open in button. After that a box pops up that says Pages for example.

Good reader is an awesome app but could really use a better design.
