ok so, i downloaded the demo for Unreal Tournament 2004 for Mac, well, it runs horribly its very choppy and barely playable, even at low resolution with minimal graphics settings..

so im wondering if im missing something here, if it were windows i would think the graphics driver wasent installed or something, i just dont get it, everyone talks about how great this nvidia 8600M GT is, well so far to me its horrible, im running it off of wall power so it should be using full resources, i just dont get it...any ideas?

welll, i bought the whole version is that going to be universal? :D

otherwise i really just want to use it as a server...i dont want the free server though, casue i cant change some of the settings i want...oh well

is there any good demo that i could download for osx that shows off the graphics??

eventually in the upcoming weeks im going to be installing bootcamp/vista for gaming, so it would be nice to see how the graphics are now. thanks!

i imagine its 100000x better than my 5 year old gaphics card in my pc, ATI 7500 64mb All in Wonder.

Just make sure to check the box then. The older UT2K4 release came in a cardboard box, the newer one is in a plastic one and sports a Universal logo.

all i know if this is the CD version, not the dvd version, like the PC copy i have, so, hopefully its the newer version, if there is a newer version out there im sure its the one amazon has...usually anyway

its not coming until tomorrow so ill report back

The demo of UT2004 is PowerPC. The UT2004 retail version sold in stores is probably still PowerPC as UT2004 was later updated to universal binary via an update. Buy the Mac version from the store and make sure you update it with the update on Macsoft's site.

ok so i got it today, its in a cardboard box, but it is universal and its on a DVD yay, it runs better than the demo, but not great, oh well, i really just wanted to use it as a server anyway

it doesn't run great? Very strange.

I have the older MBP 2.33 with the x1600 and it runs fine for me everything maxed out. What graphic settings do you have it at?
