What slot number would be left open for use if the Afterburner Card & Two Radeon Pro Vega II Duo are installed?

Oh no! So if I want to install the Sonnet M.2 4x4 PCIe Card to fully maximize its potential speed, then I'll have to give up the Afterburner card? Or is that card in x8 slot as well?

The Afterburner is a 16x card which comes installed in slot 5 from Apple. You can still get almost 8GB/s out of a x8 slot though.

The pictures for the 'Overview' section show two Vega II Duos and the Afterburner Card installed - leaving 3 slots open. One half -length and two single-wide.

Mac Pro has eight PCIe x16* sized slots that accept many different types of PCIe cards:
  • Slot 1: up to x16 lanes (double-wide)
  • Slot 2: up to x8 lanes (double-wide)
  • Slot 3: up to x16 lanes (double-wide)
  • Slot 4: up to x16 lanes (double-wide)
  • Slot 5: up to x16 lanes (single-wide)
  • Slot 6: up to x8 lanes (single-wide)
  • Slot 7: up to x8 lanes (single-wide)
  • Slot 8: up to x4 lanes (half-length)
Slot 8 is x4 in size.

The top x4 slot is taken by the Apple I/O card. The other two are x8 slots.
Will not the
Sonnet M.2 4x4 PCIe Card fit within either slot 6 or 7?

=============

Nope. I was in error.

Sonnet’s M.2 4x4 PCIe card enables you to mount four M.2 NVMe PCIe SSDs(1) onto a single x16 card slot.

Which begs the question: Which internal ssd best fits within the remaining slots given the afterburner and two Vega II duos.....
