I have a Time Capsule connected to a DSL modem. I am trying to Remote Desktop to a Mac on my network from either my iPhone or Laptop, outside of the network. It works great on the local network, but can't connect outside. The manuals say I need to open up ports 5900 and 3283, which I thought I did, but websites to check ports say it is still closed. I'm sure I messed up the ports or IP. Can anyone give me some directions on doing this? THanks!

Did you open them up on your DSL modem too?

I'm working on that, I think that is where the problem lies. The modem wants to open the ports for the router, which I think will open for computers connected. Do I want Host for incoming only or Dynamic for outgoing?

You can open the ports to your router, your modem is also acting as a router and both are NATing for you.

Since your router is NATing also, your other computers will not be exposed.
