Hello one and all,

I've been avidly reading these discussions as much as possible, and have been a member of the Mac Pro Upgrade group on FB for some time as well. Today I discovered the house of moth, which I read and am excited to follow along for installing OpenCore on my 2009 (now) 5,1.

However I have a client with a 2,1 that I made upgrades to so it's now running OS El Capitan, with an HD 5000 GPU and 32GB of RAM, along with an SSD startup drive. My question is: can I install OpenCore on a (formerly) 2,1 MP, such that I can continue an OS update to something higher than 10.11.6? We have film projects created in FCP7 that my new directive is to bring into Premiere Pro and continue work on.

If I recall correctly from gregant or another source, the hardware itself can't run the more recent operating systems. If that is the case, is it possible to replace the processor tray and CPUs?

AFAIK there is no CPU tray in a MP 1,1/2,1 (CPUs are on the BackPlane).
I believe one can replace the CPUs but there are other limitations that exclude newer OSes ( like SSE ).
