Hey there,
I have a 2012 iMac 5k that was running Ventura via OcP perfectly.
I needed to add a Bootcamp install of windows - which I did for windows 7 and everything worked.
However, turns out I need Windows 10 or 11 for this bit of s/w.
I used Bootcamp Assist to remove the old partition, then disk utility to add it back - OcP is installed, as recommended, to its own 200mb partition. I then used it to make a bootable usb of 11 and rebooted.
This was when I discovered my iMac doesn’t support windows 11; do’h!
No worries, all I had to do was reboot back into macOS and use a windows 10 iso.
the first problem was macOS no longer booted.
- the progress bar goes 1/3 and stops / caps lock doesn’t work
then I discovered more.
- would not boot into Recovery mode
- not boot into Safe Mode
The only thing I could do was an Internet Restore, which gave me access to disk utility - which showed me that the Ventura container had lost its name, being called diskXxxx
All I could think of doing was using Internet Recovery to create an install of SL onto the slowass usb stick - which some 2 or 3 hours later it has finished.
After a couple hours googling what to do next, I am here, hat in hand:
- hoping someone knows some cryptic line I can put into terminal and my Ventura install becomes bootable again.
thanks for reading, super thanks if you can help
