Will any applications on the PC open Appleworks documents created on a mac?

If you save an AppleWorks document as a MS Office type file, any PC with Office (sometimes even Works) should be able to open it. There are exceptions with certain weird formattings, but what specifically do you need to open? If the PC has Office, are you having issues with a certain file or files?

ok you have some choices here. you can buy appleworks for windows. you can save your files into word documents instead of appleworks. or you can save your documents as rtf files which can open on almost anything.

it is already a .cwk file.

i need to open it as that

Anybody know of anything else?

Datavis doesnt provide a trial download for those applications.

Just so I have this straight, you are on a PC. You have a .cwk (stands for ClarisWorks, which is what AW used to be) file. It was created by AW, on a Mac. You don't have a Mac with AW on it handy, to open the file and save it as something else. You need to open that .cwk file with a PC that has Word or Works on it, but it doesn't have the translator to open the file. Am I right?

The easiest way is to convert it through a Mac with AppleWorks. If that's not an option, you can buy Conversions Plus from Dataviz. It's about $70, but you can D/L it and use it right away. Good to have if this happens a lot, not just for Mac files. You can buy an older version of Claris Works, or Apple Works for Windows, but that would be a last resort.

Or you could try the newest version of Corels WordPerfect Suite. Trial version HERE. Warning it's about 178MB, and I don't know if it will have the correct translators. You could see if M$ has a translator for whatever you're using.

Or, you could ask someone to open it if they have AW and translate it to something else. If they're nice enough, and you don't mind the doc being read. Alas, I use Office, so I'm afraid I can't help you.

You can open it through Word, however, it will be converted to text. You will need to reformat the text into the desired state.
Also, Star(Open) Office should be able to open said .cwk.

Other than that, there's not much you can do. Just remember to save in a .rtf or .doc from Appleworks when you're going to a PC.
