I've got a Macintosh G4 running OS 9.0.4, the networked server it connects to is a Dell Powervault 725N.
When browsing the server through the Network Browser viewing of files/folders is almost instentaneous. Though when browsed through an application, say: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Quark ect. the 'open' file list takes upwards of 10 minutes to populate fully, and to make matters worse, once you browse into a folder then go back up to the original directory the list has to re-populate, resulting in more wait time.
Overall network utilization is minimal (8 PC's, 1 Macintosh, 1 Dell Server)- so it's not an issue related to lack of resources or too much traffic.
Is this an issue with OS 9 or are there some settings to be enabled/disabled/set in order to expediate population of the list without leaving out new or updated files?
If you need more system specs for either the Macintosh or the Server it connects to just ask.
Thanks for any help, it's much appreciated-
