Opening Microsoft Documents from Spotlight.

Ok, since I don't have Microsoft Office for Mac, I have to use Appleworks or iWork to open Word or Excel files.

Is there a way of doing this directly from Spotlight because so far whenever I find either of those if I click on them it prompts the expired trial version of Office, so I still have to use the Finder.

Can I change the default application to open those files, or is there a keyboard shortcut to prompt the 'Open With' menu from Spotlight?

Can you find the file and click on the magnifying glass button to get to the file in Finder, then right-click and select "OPEN WITH"??? Oh, and do it from the full Spotlight window, not from the top-right corner of your screen

Sorry if this sounds a bit innaccurate. I've only used Spotlight several times and I'm not using a Mac right now.

Well, you could find a .xls file right now, use the Get Info dialog box and change the open with section to Appleworks as well as clicking on the "Use this application to open all documents like this" button. That should default all .xls files to open with Appleworks. Do the same with a .doc file and you should be set. Any time you try to open those documents--via Spotlight or otherwise--they should open via Appleworks.
