Opening Microsoft Word documents in their own windows.

A few months ago I bought my first MacBook Pro. Before that, I was using a Windows laptop with my Microsoft Office 365 subscription.

One thing I liked about my Windows laptop with Word was the ability to have 2 documents open in their own windows and switch between the two pressing Ctrl + Tab. I tried to do this on my Macbook using Cmd + Tab, but it didn't work as I noticed that the documents don't open in separate windows. Is there any way to get them to open in separate windows please? I know I can go to the Windows menu, but I don't find this as convenient.

Different shortcut on macOS
"Command–Grave accent (`): Switch between the windows of the app you're using. (The character on the second key varies by keyboard. It's generally the key above the Tab key and to the left of the number 1.)"

Word on Mac does open a second document in a separate window!
Probably the second document is completely covering the first document.
