So after the flurry of excitement and a minor update or two, who is still using Opera Mini?

As far as I can tell, Opera (last updated May 11) isn't on the Top 200 Free list.

Meanwhile, "Kissing Test (FREE)" (released April 5) and "iDragPaper FREE" (a toilet paper simulator, released April 26) are on the Top 200 Free.

I use it ony if I'm in an area with very bad service.

Otherwise, no. I don't like how you can only zoom all the way in or all the way out. It renders alot of pages inaccurately as well, and there have been almost no updates.

I used it for about 30 minutes and deleted it. I loved it on my regular cell phones but hate on the iPhone.

I still use it fairly often. Especially when I'm in an Edge only area.

It's not perfect, and I wish the zoom experience was more refined, but I'm not at all disappointed.

I'd take another look if they bothered to update the damn thing, but there were just too many quos and not enough quids.

It is my go-to browser when I only have an EDGE connection. It's a bit clunky and it's annoying that it will never auto-correct when typing, but the speed difference and page caching make a world of difference with a poor signal.

Opera is junk just deleted today. No pinch to zoom, some websites look awful. Safari is still the best for me.

I tried Opera for about 30 minutes and then deleted it. The terrible zoom made it unusable. Besides, I really didn't notice that much of a speed difference. I still use Safari as my main browser and I use Atomic when I want to get to a site's main page instead of their mobile page.

it's the default on my 3G. Coming from WinMo phones I don't miss multi-touch at all.

wish it had a better track record with rendering all sites. :(

Since upgrading to iOS4 (w/multi-tasking), Safari has become all but unusable, as it gobbles up up all available memory and the phone grinds to a halt. I avoid it all costs now. Guess I'll investigate the (paid) version of Atomic.

Safari's bloatification I fear will be the trend now for all apps with the 4's 512MB capacity.

I loved it for certain sites on my 3G (including Macrumors), but with my 4 the experience is so much faster that I don't see the need for Opera anymore.

Highly doubtful they'll be updating anytime soon. I honestly think the developers were expecting Apple to reject the app so they could get on their high horse and make a stink about the closed app store model and how evil and controlling Apple is. Instead, their bluff got called and the app was accepted. Now that the folks developing Opera have nothing to cry foul about, I doubt they're still interested.

This is obviously nonsense. Opera even explained why they thought they would be approved. They actually wanted to be on the iPhone, and they made it. And now they have gained millions of new iPhone owners as Opera Mini users.

You don't know how many people that have downloaded but deleted 1 hr later. They don't actually have that many people using it daily basis. To me it's practically useless.

I keep it cause in some cases its way faster than Safari, but its a pain in the ASS to use it!

Sometimes I have very good signal with 2.5+mb Speeds and i dont need Opera, but sometimes the 3G just suck and it takes forever to load a website, so in those cases i use OPERA...

Opera = Total Fail. They haven't even updated the app or anything for 4.0. It's almost as if the sole reason of them even creating the app was to only see if it would be approved.

Actually, they do have many people using it on a daily basis. They regularly release reports on their usage to their investors (which they are bound to by law).

You may find it useless, but people's tastes differ. Also, most people who are not hardcore Apple fans seem to like it.

They knew it would be approved. Also, re-approval of apps take a long time, so even if they do have an update, it won't be out until Apple approves it.

So your rant = total fail.

IMO its a crappy browser. The best browser is Atomic Web and it just got updated today to support IOS4, so no more page reloads.

Well excuse me because how could Opera know it would be approved? Better apps than crappy opera have not been approved.
