Just read an article that Opera is gonna try to submit a browser app to the store. "the NY times loaded 5x faster on Opera than Safari" according to Engadget. It seems unlikely that it'll make it into the official app store. Anyone think it may make it to Cydia though?

Here is the article.

And for a bit more reading and thought, here is Engadget.

I'm pulling for it, personally. You?

i just started using opera on my pc. while i like it a lot, i miss some of the firefox add-ons i have grown accustomed to... but i think in time, opera can become a prominent browser. for one thing, it seems to use up less memory than firefox did. but i cannot download flash video without going back to fox...despite the opera 'sorta' add-on...
as for opera on the iphone, i think that would be wonderful. i was reading about the potential of apple refusing the app. one of the interesting aspects to this is that, like microsoft with its IE, apple could face antitrust problems if they refuse alternative browsers. so for this reason, along with opera's publicity about their iphone browser, i think apple, albeit begrudgingly, will have to allow the opera browser...sooner or later. thus, i dont think it will end up on cydia.
although, if apple does refuse it, and it did end up on cydia, that would be REALLY GOOD for the JB community, adding degrees of ligitimacy, sympathy, and good publicity from the broader on-JB public.
