I've made a little application to support Steve Jobs and to collect signatures in order to ask Steve collectively ask him to come to the MacWorld in opposite to someone's idea to make a silent boycott to the Keynote without Steve.

Application is cute and simple, only contains my own graphics, please take a look at the site and description.

Site: http://www.worldofkarma.com/
Description: http://www.worldofkarma.com/description.html

And this is a response I got from Apple. Do you think it's fare?
Application is free, ad free as well as the website.

Please include the line below in follow-up emails for this request.

Thank you,
Egor Lavrov.

This is an email I got from Apple:

Follow-up: XXXXXXXX

Dear Egor Lavrov,

Thank you for submitting Karma4Steve to the App Store. We've reviewed Karma4Steve and determined that we cannot post this version of your iPhone application to the App Store because it contains content that ridicules public figures and is in violation of Section 3.3.12 from the iPhone SDK Agreement which states:

"Applications must not contain any obscene, pornographic, offensive or defamatory content or materials of any kind (text, graphics, images, photographs, etc.), or other content or materials that in Apple's reasonable judgement may be found objectionable by iPhone or iPod touch users."

If you believe that you can make the necessary changes so that Karma4Steve does not violate the iPhone SDK Agreement we encourage you to do so and resubmit it for review.

Regards,

iPhone Developer Program

OK, I see, most of the people agree with Apple. Sometimes is difficult to see your own product in proper perspective, so this is why I came here for your opinion. Thank you. I'm now redesigning my application and I will come here again for your advices, ok?

Thank you,
Egor.

I think it's fair. If I were Steve I wouldn't like such an app.

and you think my app contain "any obscene, pornographic, offensive or defamatory content or materials of any kind (text, graphics, images, photographs, etc."?

They really don't need a reason to ban an app. It's their store, their company.

And personally, I wouldn't want an application like that if I was Steve Jobs, his life, the companies doings, are their own.

It may be defamatory, yes. Anyway, as you said the full email also says...

...or other content or materials that in Apple's reasonable judgement may be found objectionable by iPhone or iPod touch users.

To be honest, I find it a bit objectionable. For a start it trivialises Mac World and Schiller, implying that without Jobs Mac World is pointless and if I were Schiller I'd be personally insulted with the app. I can see Jobs could feel insulted or hurt too. He may have very good reasons for not attending and such an app could simply make him feel bad. Hell, he may even have trivial reasons for not attending but by making the app you are second guessing him and his ability to make decisions for Apple, and that's just foolish.

I took a look at your website, and honestly I think you need to do something much more productive with your time. I agree that Apple was right to reject your app. Honestly, I thought that there was a slight threatening aspect to it with your statement "...if you do bad things, bad things will happen to you."

It's a famous quote from a book actually...

Maybe I didn't explain it the right way, I didn't want Jobs to replace Schiller, I just wanted people to voice their support to Jobs and ask him to appear in front of his fans, and I'm sure he will, it was just a simple fun app, a first one I did. You may like it or not, but I don't see it violating any rules...

Well I, and the other people replying here, definitely seem to agree with Apple that it violates the rule they drew your attention to in their mail. With it being so close to MacWorld, it's unlikely any update would get processed in time now anyway, so I think it's a moot point.

If they are going to allow all that other crap ie fart / call bob apps in the app store (apps that offend me), I think it is ludicrous that they won't allow your karma app in. Maybe if you charge $0.99 they will let you. After all its all about the benjamins to aapl

Yes, you definitely have too much time on your hands. and yes, i think it's fair that your app got rejected. If i was Steve or any of his minions, i would have rejected that app as well. and no, you don't need to try to explain why you believe otherwise. i think we all get it.

Have to say for once I agree with apple that this app isn't appropriate.

I don't think it contains any of those things. That is to say, I don't think apple really needs to have a good reason to not allow an app in to their app store, but if they're looking for a good reason to quote to you, I don't think the one they picked is on-point in this case.

I find it impressive, the amount of time he has spent on this app and his site. Frankly though, this guy is nothing more than the CEO of a company. I just don't understand the following. Aside from that, I agree with IveBeenDrinking (which I never thought I would do). If he is sick then leave him the **** alone.

i gotta say i agree w/ the 2 posts above -- leave the poor guy alone and give him some privacy. there's obviously a good reason he's not giving the keynote.

I see Jobs at Mac World like Shatner at a Star Trek convention on Saturday Night Live...getting halfway through a Q&A and suddenly...."Having received all your letters over the years, and I've spoken to many of you, and some of you have traveled... y'know... hundreds of miles to be here, I'd just like to say... GET A LIFE, will you people? I mean, for crying out loud, it's just a job! I mean, look at you, look at the way you're dressed! You've turned an enjoyable little job, that I did as a lark for a few years, into a COLOSSAL WASTE OF TIME! I mean, how old are you people? What have you done with yourselves? You, you must be almost 30... have you ever kissed a girl?" :D
