Hi, all, as an owner of a Macbook which I enjoy using on my lap a lot, I have been contemplating for some time now whether to get an iLap or not. For the longest time, I have been using the Ikea chopping board :p as suggested by some forum posters but frankly it too heats up and becomes uncomfortable on my legs.

The thing about the iLap that holds me back is the price, and whether I should get a 13" or larger (what happens if I decides to get a MBP in the future? :D). Then that iLap won't fit a larger notebook... Anyone know if it retains good resale value?

Yet another device which I have been looking into but have not in person is the Belkin Cushtop, I can get that probably at 1/2 the price of the 13" iLap. Any opinions on that?

I also tried some generic laptop coolers which did not work at all as it's uncomfortable on lap and it slides around.

Any suggestions on what to get? What do you use to keep your MB/MBPs from burning yourself? Thanks.

I've heard good things about the iLap. But I spent too much time in front of the screen anyway. I thought about getting an iLap but eventually went with a Griffin Elevator instead for ergonomic reasons. I really want to minimize the time I spend staring down at my computer.

I love my iLap - getting a stand that I could use on my lap was a big consideration and it works fine on a desk. I do use a desktop machine (also an external monitor/keyboard) as well so the latter wasn't too too important.

BTW I've found it very comfortable using the iLap and it the ergonomic design is brilliant.

Pricewise, if you're in the States, you don't know you're born! Most places in the UK charge about double the American price. Managed to get mine for £39 ($78) - wouldn't say it's cheap, but I've already got my monies' worth. As a big reason for me to get a stand was so I could use my MB confortably, I've no problem paying for something that works well.

BTW there's a couple of threads about stands (I think one's the MB accessories thread) - have a look as there's plenty of first-hand experience of different types and I got some great advice prior to my purchase.

Get a coffee table book, (so called because they are meant to be placed on a coffee table to be browsed by guests) the one that I use under my laptop is about a centimeter larger, on all sides, than my PB. Works great, leaves room for airflow underneath, doesn't transmit much heat through the book.
